Urban agriculture comes to Milton. The city council this week approved a plan allowing residents to keep chickens and bees. The ordinance does spell out the number of chickens or hives, the set back from buildings, and the need for residents to be informed when an application is filed. Neighbors and abutting property owners would be notified and allowed to comment are request a public hearing. The city’s application form includes language requiring keepers to comply with state and county requirements.
