The pandemic apparently isn’t slowing Rock County’s economy down.

Rock County Economic Development Manager James Otterstein says the Janesville-Beloit Metropolitan Statistical Area posted a strong third quarter.

Otterstein say unemployment has declined for five straight months, home sales prices are at record highs, and sales and use tax collections are at all time highs.

Otterstein says more than 30,000 jobs were posted in the third quarter with a majority associated with the transportation, healthcare, and production industries.

Otterstein says the pandemic did have a negative impact on the overall economic development pipeline.
