Beloit parents, teachers and coaches speak out in support of allowing the return of athletics and co-curricular activities.

The Beloit School Board held a special Saturday public hearing to set aside three hours to hear the community’s thoughts on the issue.

Participants spoke about the value of athletics to a student’s development and health, and they pointed to the success of other districts who allowed winter sports.

On Tuesday, the board will vote on the district’s proposal for allowing these on-site activities, even though students will remain in virtual learning through at least the end of the third term.

If the board approves the plan, sports and extra curriculars could start as early as February.
