Girls on the Run of South Central Wisconsin announces that registration is now open for the Spring 2021 season at over 50 sites throughout their 8-county territory. Girls on the Run delivers a research-based curriculum designed to empower 3rd-7th grade girls. They teach girls the importance of identifying their emotions, communication skills, and the balance between physical and mental health. This past fall, Girls on the Run quickly adapted its engaging programming to serve girls in the community amidst the global pandemic. More than 400 girls safely participated in programming, and Girls on the Run reports that 95% of parents shared that GOTR had been a valuable experience for their daughter and 98% of girls reported that they had fun at practice.

As they did in the fall, Girls on the Run is offering flexible program models this spring. Families can choose between in-person outdoor programming or 100% online virtual teams. All teams are open to participants from any school. The 8-week season begins the week of April 12th and wraps up Saturday, June 5th with a team-based celebratory 5K run. Registration is open now at www.girlsontherunscwi.org.

·         In-person teams will meet as small groups in a public outdoor location, using their modified curriculum to maintain safe social distancing at all times. In-person teams may seamlessly transition to virtual practices for a few sessions in the event of severe weather or COVID related concerns.

·         100% virtual teams will join together in an online platform for a live experience with coaches and fellow GOTR girls.

·         New this season, Girls on the Run will also offer Camp GOTR programming. Camp GOTR combines the best of Girls on the Run with all the fun of camp! During this 5 week session, 3rd-5th grade girls will build friendships in a fun and inclusive setting that includes interactive games, being physically active, and expressing creativity through art & crafts and storytelling.

·         Financial assistance is available to any girl who needs it. Girls on the Run offers a sliding-scale fee structure so families can self-select the registration fee that is right for them.

Executive Director Christine Benedict shares, “Now, more than ever, girls need a safe space to connect with peers, stay active, and have fun. In addition, with our focus on social-emotional learning, Girls on the Run helps girls process their experiences from this past year in a safe and positive space.”
