The two women running to replace outgoing 31st Assembly District Representative Amy Loudenbeck face off in a debate on Big Radio.

When it comes to how to best spend an estimated $5 billion budget surplus, Republican Ellen Schutt says with the current inflation, some of it will likely need to be spend to maintain current programs, and the rest should go to middle class tax cuts.

Democrat Brienne Brown says the money isn’t actually a surplus as it came from not spending it on education and cuts to other programs and services. She supports spending it on education and giving some back to the municipalities.

On the topic of abortion, Brown says she support overturning the current 1849 ban, and Schutt said she would support the mother’s right to choose in cases of rape or incest.

The election is Tuesday, November 8th.
