A 57-year-old Janesville man is sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography.

According to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Mark Spengler was also ordered to serve 15 years of supervised release and pay $47,000 in restitution. He plead guilty to the charge in June.

In May of 2019 law enforcement executed a search warrant at Spengler’s home where they found computer equipment that contained multiple images of pre-pubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Police say that Spengler admitted that he used a file sharing program to search for and obtain child sexual assault material.

At his sentencing Thursday US District Judge William Conley expressed concern for Spengler’s deep-rooted sexual attraction to children and noted that many files found on his computer involved violent sexual acts towards minors.
