The pandemic may have canceled the YWCA Rock County’s “Stand Against Racism” public rallies this year, but it did not silence the message. The theme for the YWCA’s signature campaign, which was held virtually Monday, was civic engagement and census participation. YWCA leaders say access to voting and engaging marginalized communities in the political process are powerful tools for eliminating racism and creating a more inclusive democracy. The organization also contends participating in the 2020 census will determine how more than $675 billion in federal, state, and local funding supports communities around the country.
