A local State Senator is using the appointment of former Governor Tommy Thompson, as Interim UW System President, to further his agenda of reform. Steve Nass of Whitewater says the UW System, in its current form, is economically unsustainable. Nass says he’ll be Thompson’s ally if the former governor fights to protect families by preserving the undergraduate tuition freeze and works to cut administrative spending and positions. The Republican adds however, if the UW System demands higher tuition, a massive state taxpayer bailout, and adopts window-dressing for reforms, then he will stand in opposition.
