The School District of Milton will have new attendance boundaries for its elementary schools in the 2020-2021 school year.

The school board voted Monday night to approve a new map that indicates which 4K through third-grade schools students will be assigned to.

The board had approved preliminary boundaries in May, but it adjusted the line between Milton West and Consolidated Elementary schools with the latest vote.

The change is intended to balance school class sizes and school bus transportation time for students.

Dozens of parents spoke in opposition to the changes at recent board meetings and listening sessions.

The district is accommodating some of their concerns by allowing families to request transfers to schools outside of their attendance area.

For this upcoming school year, the district will also provide transportation to multiple schools for many day care centers along bus routes.

School principals will contact families who are receiving a new school assignment because of the change.
