One of the two suspects in a shooting at a Janesville area strip club appears to be arguing self-defense.
27-year-old Damont Green made his initial appearance in Rock County Court Wednesday afternoon, when attorney Michael Murphy said Green’s life was threatened by the other shooter, Jaquczeas “Jaq” Wiggins.
The June 20 shooting took place in the vestibule of Blu Astor Cabaret, formerly known as Diamond Jim’s Isabella Queen.
Assistant District Attorney Alex Goulart said police have surveillance footage of the shooting, which showed over 20 bystanders near the gunfire. Four people were injured.
Green and Wiggins are both charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, four counts of first-degree reckless injury and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
Green turned himself in on Tuesday, and a court commissioner set his cash bond at $50,000. Wiggins remains at large.
