Beloit city officials want visitors to Big Hill Park to know about the possible presence of a cougar. The Parks and Recreation Department posted on Facebook Saturday an employee had spotted the big cat. The sighting was reported to the DNR and Parks and Recreation posted information about proper behavior around such animals. This is not the first sighting in recent years. Beloit police say a cougar was reported near the foot bridge by Portland Avenue last June, and parks employees also reported spotting a cougar in Big Hill Park in 2015.
