A 40-year-old Brodhead man is facing drunk driving charges after a weekend crash. The Rock County Sheriff’s office says deputies responded Saturday night around 10:30 to a crash along the north shoulder of Highway 81 near the intersection with South County Highway H. Deputies say it appears the driver failed to negotiate the sweeping curve. Witnesses at the scene told responding officers the driver ran into the woods. Deputies say they apprehended Travis L. Hawkins hiding in some foliage. Hawkins was arrested on a charge of Operating While Intoxicated 5th Offense and Operating while Revoked. He’s scheduled for a court appearance Monday.
