Local Republicans and the Rock County Sheriff’s Department welcome Vice President Mike Pence to Janesville.

Air Force II touched down at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport just after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday and took off again later in the afternoon following Pence’s campaign speech in Darien.

Rock County Sheriff’s Commander Jude Maurer said they had more than a dozen deputies involved in the motorcade, both escorting the vice president and blocking traffic along their route to Walworth County.

A group of roughly 50 Trump supporters gathered across the street at the Tee Shack minigolf course to cheer Pence on as his plane landed and the motorcade drove by.

His speech at the metal manufacturer Tankcraft Corporation focused on economic growth, the coronavirus and the difference in campaign strategy between Trump and Biden.
