The two men involved in a shooting at the Blu Astor Cabaret strip club south of Janesville in late June may be connected to other shootings around the Beloit area.

Assistant District Attorney Mason Braunschweig said detectives at the Beloit Police Department and Rock County Sheriff’s Department are investigating ballistic evidence from the gunfire exchanged between 27-year-old Damont Green and 23-year-old Jaquczeas Wiggins on June 20 that left four injured.

Police will compare shells fired by Wiggins at the strip club to casings recovered at a separate shooting in Beloit, which could lead to additional charges.

Braunschweig said since Wiggins and Green have been in police custody, the number of shootings in Beloit decreased significantly, and investigators believe those facts are connected.

“These two individuals had a tremendous feud with each other that bled over, literally, to many other areas in the community and caused harm to many other people,” Braunschweig said Wednesday in Rock County Court.

Green turned himself in on July 7, and Wiggins did the same on July 30.

Earlier this month, Beloit Police Chief David Zibolski said his department has responded to almost as many gunfire reports this year as they did in all of 2019.
