Local non-profits are collaborating for a drive-thru voter registration and food collection for ECHO.

The city of Janesville is allowing the service organizations to set up at Traxler Park Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Volunteers will collect donations for the local food pantry from participants’ vehicles, and representatives from the Janesville League of Women voters will provide voter registration information and assist voters in preparing for the upcoming November election.

ECHO Associate Director Jessica Locher said they’ve served 200 additional households since the start of the pandemic, and they’re expecting the total number of families using their services to reach 4,000 by the end of the year.

The primary items needed for ECHO include toiletries and non-perishable foods

Janesville Noon Kiwanis, Morning Rotary, Optimist Clubs, Black Hawk Golden K and the Janesville Noon Lions will all assist in the event.

Organizers are considering holding another similar event in the future at Monterrey Park.
