Despite some opposition from members of the public, the Beloit City Council unanimously passes an extension of its COVID-19 order.
The vote continued the same rules that have been in place for months in Beloit, now prolonged at least through the beginning of October.
Close to a dozen area residents submitted public comments opposing the order, which reinforces state and county health guidelines on wearing masks and physical distancing.
Concerned community members expressed personal values of freedom and government overreach, while others cited inaccurate information about the ineffectiveness of masks and the spread of COVID-19.
A few people wrote in public comments in support of the order, which they believe is helping to protect the community as a whole.
