The Janesville Patriotic Society is holding a POW/MIA remembrance ceremony Friday night at the Veteran’s Plaza at Traxler Park.
Congressman Bryan Steil will be the keynote speaker for the event that will recognize 40 Wisconsin veterans who are unaccounted for.
Patriotic Society President Tom Stehura said the program will feature the story of Donald Downing, a Janesville man whose plane crashed in Vietnam in 1967.
The U.S. Air Force classified Downing as missing in action, and his body has never been recovered.
Stehura said the 6:00 p.m. ceremony will also include a letter reading skit between the son of a POW and his mother.
