The COVID-19 pandemic is interfering with Halloween plans in the City of Beloit.

The city announced it will not schedule Trick or Treat hours this year, and the Downtown Beloit Association will not run any Halloween events.

The press release cites guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, which identifies Trick or Treat as a “higher risk activity.”

The health department says going door-to-door and having in-person contact is not recommended, along with large social gatherings.

The DHS website recommends holding virtual costume parties and contests, celebrating at home or a drive-through haunted house experience.
