School District of Janesville officials are working to get the word out about a pair of referendums in advance of the November election.
Superintendent Steve Pophal says the facilities referendum would increase the property taxes on a $100,000 home by a flat rate of $5 starting at the end of 2021.
It’s intended to fund security and safety improvements and replacement of outdated boiler systems.
A second $37 million operations referendum would increase the tax bill on a $100,000 home by $40 each year over its four year life span starting at the end of 2021.
A survey conducted by a district consultant in July indicated the majority of respondents would support the referendums.
