Defy Domestic Abuse Beloit is disassociating itself from a Halloween event hosted by Trump supporters that collected donations for the local domestic violence shelter.

The non-profit issued a statement Monday afternoon saying they were “associated under false pretenses to be a beneficiary” of the Saturday afternoon gathering, which it believed was a “Trunk and Treat” event.

The now-removed Facebook event page was called “Trump-N-Treat” which described itself as “a super trunk~n~treat with a bit of American pride” to support the President at Riverside Park in Beloit.

Defy Domestic Abuse said it was “inaccurately represented” to them as a non-political event focused on Halloween, but the organization later learned it was a “highly partisan political event” that “involved the representation of acts of violence.”

Pictures purportedly from the event circulating on social media show a fake body labeled as “Antifa” underneath a car tire as though it was being run over.

The Facebook event description said it was a “peaceful Halloween event” that was “accepting donations of food/hygiene ect.” for the Beloit Domestic Violence Survivor Center, which rebranded last month to Defy Domestic Abuse Beloit.

The event page listed three hosts who have been involved with organizing other Trump supporting events in Beloit: Jayke Stahfr, Lenny Betker and 45th Assembly District candidate Tawny Gustina.

Gustina said she attended the gathering but it was not formally endorsed by her campaign or the Trump campaign.

In a Facebook comment, Stahfr responded to Defy Domestic Abuse demanding a “social media apology” for the post

He claimed that the community is being “manipulated and divided” by Beloit College, the Beloit Daily News, the Beloit city government, Rock County supervisor Yuri Rashkin and State Representative Mark Spreitzer, whose name was misspelled multiple times.
