Voters in Evansville reject a referendum that would have had the City build a new aquatic center and complete improvements at Westside Park.
Voters were presented with three options: building a new aquatic center at Westside Park and building a splash pad at the site of the current aquatic center, rebuilding the aquatic center in it’s current location and installing a splash pad at Westside park, and doing nothing.
42.38% of voters felt the City should do nothing and not spend the money. 33.04% of voters supported moving the aquatic center to Westside Park, and 24.58% of voters felt the aquatic center should be rebuilt in it’s current location.
City officials say this will likely result in the closure of the aquatic center and a delay to the improvements in Westside Park.
