Construction on a new Chick-fil-A restaurant in Janesville is scheduled to start this spring.

The Janesville Plan Commission approved the conditional use permit for the restaurant and two-lane drive-thru at the edge of the Blain’s Farm and Fleet parking lot near the intersection of Pontiac Drive and Highway 14/Humes Road.

Principal Development Leader Justin Lurk said the company is expanding drive-thru and carryout accessibility at their new restaurants in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and they hope to open the Janesville location by next fall.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to reconstruct that portion Highway 14 in 2022, which will include a sidewalk connection to the restaurant entrance.

The project will also include a widening of the Pontiac Drive intersection with expanded turn lanes to improve traffic flow into Highway 14.
