Forward Janesville and premier sponsor Alliant Energy are hosting its inaugural Holiday Lights Contest in 2020.

Whiton House Consulting, Baker Tilly US, Advantage Homes, Inc., and the Nowlan & Mouat Law Firm are also sponsoring the contest.

The purpose of the contest is to create a sense of community and cheer by recognizing residents and businesses that go above and beyond in decorating for the holiday season.

Participation is FREE and open to all Janesville residents and businesses. The contest is open to the first 35 registrants on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must submit a photo of their light display along with their registration. Decorations include exterior and window decorations, and must be visible from the roadway.

The deadline to submit entries is Monday, December 21 at midnight. The judging will take place between Sunday, December 27 and Wednesday, December 30 between the hours of 5:30-9 PM. Contest winners will be announced on the Forward Janesville website, in a special edition of their electronic newsletter, and on Facebook on January 4th at 1 PM.

Winners will also be part of giving to local non-profit organizations, as our generous prize sponsors will donate funds to the non-profit of each winner’s choice.

1st Prize: $700; $350 in local gift cards to the winner plus $350 to an area non-profit of the winner’s choice.

2nd Prize: $500; $250 in local gift cards to the winner plus $250 to an area non-profit of the winner’s choice. Sponsored by Whiton House Consulting.

3rd Prize: $250; $125 in local gift cards to the winner plus $125 to an area non-profit of the winner’s choice. Sponsored by Baker Tilly US.

There will be three honorable mentions, who will receive $50 in gift cards to local businesses plus $50 to a non-profit of the winner’s choice. The honorable mentions are sponsored by Advantage Homes, Inc. and the Nowlan & Mouat Law Firm.
