After 25 years, the Orfordville Children’s Christmas Benefit at the American Legion is the latest casualty of the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to a news release, the free community meal and fundraiser has been held on the first Saturday of December for the past 25 years, but like many events in 2020, this year has necessitated the cancellation of the night of music, food, auctions, and gathering with friends to help those in need.

The benefit’s board members and volunteers will still be active this holiday season and are encouraging anyone willing to bring their donations of new gift items or cash donations to the American Legion this Saturday, December 5th between 1:00 and 3:00 pm. The group will have a contactless drive up drop off for donations and will also take referrals for those in need at that time.

Deliveries to the community of gifts and vouchers will still take place before Christmas under safety protocols.
