The Whitewater Police Department meets the standards necessary with the U.S. Department of Justice for use-of-force and is eligible to receive grants for the next three years.

According to a news release, beginning this year DOJ discretionary grants will only be available to law enforcement agencies that meet certain standards from independent credentialing bodies.

Whitewater Police Chief Aaron Rapp says the department’s use-of-force policy was reviewed by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group, who found it adhered to all federal, state, and local laws.
