The Janesville Police Department awarded four Letters of Commendation in December.

This award is given by the Chief of Police to any employee who performs a particularly noteworthy act of service. The actions of the employee must be beyond the normal expectation of duty and based upon a determined and intelligent performance. The following received a Letter of Commendation for the actions listed below.

• Officer Hollingshead, Officer Jaremko, Officer Winiarski, Officer Zimborski

On November 28th, 2020 officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a local bar. Several shell casings were recovered but no suspects were identified and little was known about what occurred.

The teamwork between these officers, and members of the Street Crimes Unit, to conduct surveillance on an apartment complex lead to a high-risk traffic stop that resulted in an apprehension of the suspect and the recovery of the firearm that was used in the shooting.

The department would like to hereby publicly acknowledge these individuals for their commendable actions. Their performance is deeply appreciated and respected by the Janesville Police Department.
