Unemployment appears to be on the rise. The Department of Workforce Development reports in December, unemployment rates increased in all 72 counties and 12 metro areas. In the Janesville-Beloit statistical area, unemployment rose from 5% in November to 5.4% in December. The local unemployment rate was just 3.5% one-year ago.
