The YWCA of Rock County is working with local community partners to create a racial equity report for the area.
Racial justice coordinator Amiee Leavy partnered with Kids Forward in Madison to start collecting the data and stories to measure racial justice outcomes in Rock County.
Leavy is meeting with local non-profits and community institutions to identify race-centered issues in the areas of health, families, economics wellbeing, education and the justice system.
She said the effort is not about shaming organizations for their shortcomings but instead trying to accurately identify racial issues in the area and highlight best practices.
Leavy plans to have the report ready for the YWCA’s next annual racial justice conference in November.
She encourages local organizations to reach out to her to contribute their perspectives on the issues.
