The public is being asked to help guide UW-Whitewater into the future. Interim Provost Greg Cook says the college is in the process of renewing its mission statement. Cook says a lot has changed since the adoption of the current mission statement in 2005. Important considerations now include adding a specific reference to the Wisconsin Ideal, expressing deep commitment to student access following the addition of the branch campus in Rock County, and emphasizing the long standing mission to serve students with disabilities. Cook encourages anyone interested to join in a virtual public hearing from 2:00 p.m. til 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. After the public hearing university officials will renew the statement and forward it to the UW Board of Regents for final approval this fall.
