Officers responded to a report of a man down in between two houses in the 300 block of Portland Avenue just before 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

The 19-year-old victim was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound that led police to believe it was a homicide.

Beloit Police Chief Andre Sayles said haven’t determined how recently the victim had been shot prior to the discovery of his body.

Investigators don’t know yet whether this homicide is connected to the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old Beloit man on August 20.

Chief Sayles is urging the community to come forward with any information about any of the recent shootings.
