A home is heavily damaged by fire on Beloit’s east side.  Beloit firefighters responded to the home in the 800 block of Sherwood Drive Northeast about 4:00 p.m. Thursday.  Firefighters say flames were already coming through the roof when they arrived.  The family escaped safely.  The home is actually in the Town of Turtle, but Beloit firefighters arrived first and were able to knock down the blaze before turning the scene over to Town of Turtle personnel.
