A Hartford woman dies in a Rock County crash between a car and a semi.

Rock County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the accident Sunday at around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 81 and County K in the Town of Avon.

Investigators determined that a 2007 Pontiac G6 was trying to cross Highway 81 and failed to yield the right of way to the tanker truck, which unsuccessfully tried to swerve to avoid the collision.

The semi overturned into a wooded area while the G6 came to rest in a nearby field.

The 39-year-old female driver of the Pontiac later died from her injuries at the hospital. The 21-year-old semi truck driver from Elkhorn was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital Sunday.

The sheriff’s office does not anticipate any charges will be filed in the crash.

Highway 81 was closed for around three and a half hours.
