A local democratic state legislator is able to reach across the isle.

44th Assembly District Representative Sue Conley of Janesville says she sided with Republicans on a number of issues last week.

A bill authored by Republican Representative Amy Loudenbeck of Clinton establishes an urban search and rescue team and assures local fire departments are reimbursed for their participation.

Conley says other bipartisan measures to pass her chamber included the establishment of an urban search and rescue task force; reimbursing the cost of wheel chairs for people on medical assistance who live in a nursing home; giving independent charter schools authorized by tribal colleges the same per pupil aid as other private charter schools, and declaring September 2021 as Workforce Development Month in Wisconsin.
