The proposed Rock County budget reflects a decrease in the tax rate for next year. County Administrator Josh Smith predicts the tax-rate will dip seven-percent. Smith says this is the eighth year in a row for a reduction in the tax rate. He says the reason is property values have been steadily climbing. Overall the 2022 budget is slightly smaller than last years. Among the highlights, Smith points to county borrowing for highway projects, which will be at a ten-year low. A public hearing on the budget is planned for Wednesday November 3rd.
