A number of property owners on North Lexington Drive and LaSalle Street in Janesville are being assessed for new sidewalks next year.

City Engineer Mike Payne says the exact cost won’t be known until the project has been bid, but this year the cost was $31.40 a linear foot.

The City Council had considered adding a section of sidewalk on West Court Street from Waveland Road to Sunset Drive but nixed the idea following public comment Monday night.
