A local community’s industrial growth program has been so successful, it may be running short of shovel ready properties for developers.  Janesville Economic Development Director Gale Price says a three-year option to buy 129-acres of farmland, on Highway G just south of the Dollar General distribution facility, could help.  The city council approved a deal securing the option to buy at a cost of $50 thousand a year.  Price says the deal allows the city to buy the land as needed over those three-years at a rate of 35-thousand dollars an acre.
