Beloit Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Lock released a statement Friday morning on behalf of the police department saying in conjunction with the school district of Beloit, a decision was made to cancel school because of the potential of a protest.  The statement adds this is solely done for the safety of the students and staff and no additional comment will be provided at this time.  The decision likely stems from an incident involving an 8th grade student’s accusation last week a teacher wrapped tape around his head to hold on his face mask.  A Facebook event page had announced a protest in response to the incident planned for 3:00 p.m. November 5 in front of the Kolak Education Center on Fourth Street.
