The Town of Beloit Board of Supervisors Monday night will consider who will replace the retiring police chief. Ron Northrup says he’s proud of what’s been accomplished during his five-years as the department’s top cop. Northrup says he’s pleased the department has improved community engagement and developed special training and programs. Despite his successes, Northup admits he’s a little disappointed he wasn’t able to establish a School Resource Officer or K9 unit. The chief says he’s also proud to see the town board consider choosing from within the department for his replacement. Top contenders are likely Lieutenants LeAnn Jones and Brian Hasse.
