The Wisconsin Department of Justice has identified the Beloit police officer involved in last week’s shooting.  The department’s Division of Criminal Investigation says 13-year law enforcement veteran Sergeant Shannon Dykstra came across a crash near the intersection of Prairie and Copeland Avenues around 7:45 p.m. last Wednesday.  Authorities say while she was investigating, a person on foot approached and tried to take her gun, at which point they were shot.  Dykstra was not hurt.  The person is expected to survive.  As per department policy, Dykstra has been placed on administrative duty.
