Wisconsin’s top health agency encourages vaccination after the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is approved Tuesday.

The secretary-designee of the state’s Department of Health Services, Karen Timberlake, says in a statement that the approval confirms that the vaccines are “effective and safe”.

After getting approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Moderna vaccine will now be marketed under the name Spikevax.

Approval of the vaccine required extensive data on safety and effectiveness, as well as a review of clinical and real-world use.

The Pfizer COVID vaccine was approved last August.
