The Rock County Sheriff isn’t planning to run for re-election. Sheriff Troy Knudson Friday morning issued a press release stating he wanted to let his intention be known early to ensure the community has sufficient time to thoroughly evaluate potential successors. Knudson calls it an incredible honor and privilege to have served in the sheriff’s office for thirty-three years, holding the office itself since being elected in 2018. The release highlights recent accomplishments at the sheriff’s office including planning the replacement of the 1929 Pinehurst portion of the facility, a shift in focus at the jail towards more treatment and rehabilitation, and a move toward greater transparency with the implementation of body cameras. Knudson also shares great confidence in the team he leaves behind at the sheriff’s office and hints at how much he’s looking forward to the joys and opportunities retirement has to offer.
