The President of Beloit’s City Council is a candidate for the State Assembly. Clinton Anderson announces Thursday he’s in the race as a Democrat to succeed Mark Spreitzer as Wisconsin’s 45th District Representative. Spreitzer declares his candidacy Wednesday for the seat being vacated by retiring 15th District State Senator Janis Ringhand. Anderson credits Spreitzer as being a helping hand during his time on the Beloit Council. If elected to the State Legislature, Anderson says he will work to eliminate what he calls “cookie cutter policies” that “hurt the unique needs of different communities.” The lifelong Beloit resident has been a Beloit City Council member since 2017.
