
The Janesville City Council approves a tax incremental financing agreement with a Rockford based pet treat manufacturer looking to relocate and expand in Janesville.
According to a City memo Phelps Pet Products is a contract manufacturer of jerky-style meaty dog treats for dozens of popular brands in North America.
Subsidiary Pet Treat Holdings is looking to lease the 178,000 square foot building at 400 West Venture Drive from Zilber Property Group and anticipates creating 103 full-time living wage jobs by the third anniversary of the plant’s opening.
As part of the TIF agreement approved in a unanimous vote Monday night, the City will provide an incentive of $447,200 over the course of nine years in exchange for the creation of 103 full time jobs that pay at least $20.81.
The company hopes to begin operating in the plant on Venture Drive no later than July 1st.
