
A local police chief is thrilled the nearly $19 million that Governor Tony Evers is dividing among every law enforcement agency in the State is based on population and not crime rate.
Police Chief David Moore says he was surprised to learn that Janesville would be receiving $186,346. Moore says Janesville has a low crime rate and often loses out on grant opportunities.
The City of Beloit Police Department will receive $134,861, and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office’s share is $107,615. The town of Beloit is set to receive $21,076, Edgerton will get $12,723, and the City of Milton is being allocated $12,681.
The money is part of $50 million investment in community safety the Department of Administration announced Tuesday.
