A teacher in the School District of Beloit is reported to have used racial slurs while reading a book aloud to students. A Friday news release from the district says administrators are looking into the book the teacher read to the students called “Jackie & Me”. The book is about Jackie Robinson’s breaking of baseball’s color barrier in the 1940’s. The action by the district comes after a parent says in a letter sent to the district a Cunningham Intermediate School teacher read the book, which features racial slurs, to a 4th grade class. The name of the teacher and the specific allegations against them was not revealed in the release from the district.
