A heat lamp is being blamed for a fire in home on Janesville’s east side. Firefighters responded to the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue a little before 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The first to arrive found a working fire in the basement of the single family home. The occupants had been alerted by smoke detectors and had already escaped. Fire fighters were able to use a portable extinguisher to put-out the flames. No injuries were reported and firefighters did reunite a cat and two-chicks with the residents. Damage is considered minor.
