An offer of a refund or discounts on your City of Janesville water bill may just be too good to be true.

Communications Specialist Nick Faust says the latest phone scam making the rounds involves a caller pretending to be from the water utility.

Faust says the water utility does not call customers to acquire personal information over the phone to process discounts or refunds.

Faust says if you think you’ve been a target of this scam you should call the Janesville Police Department.
