A 19-year-old Janesville man is in custody after a domestic disturbance ended with gunfire. Janesville police were called to the 14-hundred block of Starling Lane just after 3:00 a.m. Monday. A news release indicates the emergency dispatch center warned officers a male subject was physically fighting with a female and trying to run-over people with his vehicle. While officers responded, another neighbor called to report gunfire. Police say they arrived to find a female with visible injuries to her face consistent with a physical assault. They also found a vehicle struck by gunfire. Police contend one of the victim’s neighbors acted in self-defense by firing a gun at the abuse suspect’s vehicle as he attempted to run-over the domestic violence victim. As a result, Daequan I. Hanna was arrested on charges including First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Domestic Violence.
