Plans for what could be the largest indoor hydroponic strawberry growing operation in the country will go before the Janesville City Council for the first time next week.

City Planning Director Duane Cherek says on Monday the council will introduce and set for public hearing the annexation, zoning upon annexation, and comprehensive plan amendment for property located at the northeast corner of Highways 51 and 11.

Cherek says the Plan Commission would likely hold a public hearing for the project on June 6th.

Cherek provided an update on the project which utilizes land purchased from MacFarlane Pheasants to the Plan Commission this week.
