The 2022 Governor’s Award of Excellence in Community Action is awarded to Community Action, Inc. of Rock & Walworth Counties for their Merrill Community Sharing Garden. Executive Director Marc Perry says it recognizes the tremendous work their former Program Director John Ramstad did in starting it. Perry says it also recognizes the work Community Service Coordinator Kaelyb Lokrantz has done since taking over. Perry says most importantly, it recognizes the impact that they say they’re having in the neighborhood is actually happening. It’s tangible and concrete where it can be touched, felt, smelled and tasted. Department of Children and Families Secretary Emilie Amundson presented Perry and Lokrantz the award Thursday in the garden.
